Best WordPress Development Companies for Startups in 2026
· By Sandipan
Most of the best-known WordPress development companies build for enterprises and large publishers. That makes them excellent, and usually more than a startup needs. The right choice for a startup depends on how big the site is, who will run it after launch, and whether you want an agency, a freelancer or a small studio.
This guide groups nine WordPress companies by who they suit, so you can skip straight to the ones that fit.
A note on bias. We're Rivento Studio, and we're on this list. We haven't hired the other eight. What we say about them comes from their own websites, checked in October 2026, so confirm the details with each company before you decide. Where another company is the better fit, we say so.
The short answer

How we chose
This is a shortlist, not a ranking. Every company here focuses on WordPress and says clearly what it does and who it works with. We grouped them by size of client, because that decides more than anything else whether a company is right for you.
For early-stage startups
Rivento Studio
That's us: two people. Baishali designs the site in Figma and Sandipan builds it as a custom WordPress theme, so it looks like your product and not like a template. We set up the blog, the plugins you need and the editing your team will use, and most sites are typically live in 2-3 weeks. We also offer maintenance after launch.
Best suited to: pre-seed to Series A founders in Tech, SaaS and AI who want a custom WordPress site and direct contact with the people building it.
Look elsewhere if: you need a large team, a complex migration from another system, or enterprise hosting and compliance.
Codeable
Codeable is a marketplace, not an agency. You describe a project and are matched with a vetted freelance WordPress developer, with a free estimate before you commit. The work can be a one-off fix, a new site or store, a custom theme or plugin, or ongoing development.
Best suited to: a startup with a clearly defined WordPress task and someone in-house who can manage a freelancer.
Look elsewhere if: you also need the design done, or you want one team responsible for the whole site.
Seahawk Media
Seahawk Media offers WordPress builds, maintenance, speed optimisation, hacked-site repair and migrations. Much of its work is white-label, done on behalf of other agencies.
Best suited to: a team that needs hands-on WordPress help, such as upkeep, speed work or a repair, more than a full design project.
Look elsewhere if: you want a site designed from scratch around your brand.
For larger sites and growing teams
WebDevStudios
WebDevStudios is a full-service WordPress agency with more than 18 years behind it. It covers strategy, UX and UI design, custom development, performance, security, content migrations and ongoing support, and it also sells its own WordPress plugins.
Best suited to: a company with a large or complex site that wants one long-term WordPress partner for everything.
Look elsewhere if: you're early-stage and need a small site live quickly.
For enterprises and publishers
These five build WordPress at a scale most startups won't need yet. They're worth knowing about for later, or if you're already past Series B with a large content operation.
10up
10up built its name making websites and tools for content creators, with clients across enterprise, media, universities, healthcare and government. It is now part of Fueled, where its WordPress work continues.
Best suited to: enterprises and publishers with large editorial teams.
Human Made
Human Made is an enterprise WordPress agency based in the United Kingdom, building content platforms since 2011. Its work includes development, migrations, audits, multisite and headless WordPress, and it is a WordPress VIP agency partner.
Best suited to: enterprise content platforms, particularly in publishing, higher education and financial services.
XWP
XWP works with enterprise publishers and media brands on WordPress, covering publishing, scaling, migration and monetisation. It is a WordPress VIP agency partner.
Best suited to: large publishers whose site is the business.
rtCamp
rtCamp is an enterprise WordPress agency with teams in the United States and India. It builds and maintains WordPress platforms, moves organisations from other systems onto WordPress, and is a WordPress VIP agency partner.
Best suited to: large organisations bringing several sites or brands onto one WordPress platform.
Multidots
Multidots is an enterprise web agency with offices in Austin and London. It focuses on redesigns, builds and migrations to WordPress from systems such as Sitecore, Drupal and Contentful, and is a WordPress VIP agency partner.
Best suited to: a large organisation migrating to WordPress from another content system.
How to choose
- By size. A startup site rarely needs an enterprise agency. A small studio or a good freelancer will usually be faster and closer to the work. Move up when the site becomes a large content operation.
- By what you need done. If you need design and build together, choose a studio or agency that does both. If the design exists and you need it built, or you have a list of fixes, a freelancer can be enough.
- By who runs it afterwards. Ask who handles WordPress, plugin and theme updates after launch. An unmaintained WordPress site becomes slow and insecure, so decide this before you sign.
Whoever you speak to, ask four things: who actually does the work, whether the theme is custom or bought, who owns the code at the end, and what maintenance costs after launch.
Common questions
Is WordPress the right choice for a startup?
It is when a blog sits at the centre of your marketing, when you rely on specific plugins, or when you already run on WordPress. For a small marketing site that changes often, Framer is usually quicker. For a larger site with structured content, Webflow is worth a look.
Custom theme or bought theme?
A bought theme is cheaper and faster at the start. A custom theme is built for your design alone, carries no unused features, and is easier to keep fast. For a site meant to make a startup look credible, custom is usually worth it.
How long does a WordPress site take?
A small studio can typically launch a startup site in 2-3 weeks. Agencies with larger scopes take longer, so ask for the timeline in writing.
